Last two months were a rollercoaster Pt.1

As the title says: I’ve had a crazy last two months. Lots of traveling, made lots of new friends, lots of school- and workprojects and deadlines. Let me go over every single topic to give an update on how I found myself in the position I am in right now, with this first part: traveling.

Traveling

Toiletselfie from Chiang Mai to Bangkok

As the most of you know (or not) I’ve been in Phangan twice already. But one thing was for sure what we wanted to do for Christmas and New Year: reunite in Phangan. I was fine with that, because I fell in love with the island. We finished the scooterloop in the North on the 28th of November. I stayed for some more days in Chiang Mai (which became totally dead after the Yee Peng Festival) to work on my deadlines, final exams and reports.

Arrived back in Bangkok on the 5th of December. I stayed there for one night in the hostel I stayed at before. Picked up my big travel bag at a friend’s place (I could only take 7 kilo’s on the flight to Chiang Mai, and my bag is far away from 7 kilo).

Thai or English book

Oh yea, the hostel, let me tell a little side story which has nothing to do with the subtopic: A week and a half before I left, I ordered a book online which I wanted to read. I wanted to ‘pay on delivery’, so I gave the amount of Bath to the reception so they could accept the package. Days after the estimated delivery date I checked the status online. It said that they tried to deliver twice already, the reception didn’t have anyone walk in or past by with a package. So my hostel called them and they said: “Yea, we had some trouble with delivering, we will come by tomorrow.” The funny thing is that I was about to take the flight the next morning to Chiang Mai. So we came to the agreement that I stay one night at the hostel, when I arrive back from Chiang Mai. All good (what I thought).

So I arrived back at the hostel, opened the package. Book is in Thai… I assumed they sell books in English, because the store I went to had English books and the website was in English. But wait, things get better. Because I stayed longer in the North, the return policy got expired, which was two weeks. I mailed the organization that I want to return the book, assuming it took them a week and a half to deliver. At first they said no, because I was over the 2 weeks already. Mailed again, said I should not take this on me, because I was not going to wait or change my flight for a book, which took so long for delivery. Still no, not our fault…

Next day I was about to fly to Phuket, because I haven’t been there yet. So we agreed on that the hostel took the book for the period I wasn’t there and that we will have mail contact about options to get rid of the book in exchange for money. In the meantime, in Phuket Town this book was still available so I bought it in Phuket (IN ENGLISH). I will write about Phuket in a separate blog, no worries.

Last time in Ko Phangan

Ko Raham, Ko Phangan

After 10 days it was almost time for the Full Moon-party. With three other exchange students we took the bus from Phuket to Ko Phangan on the 16th of December. Fun fact: I had an exam in the bus. It was the most uncomfortable exam I ever did. 1. We all needed to have our webcam on. 2. It was the online exam I had, that needed to be written on paper. And busses do not drive that chill to write during the ride. 3. It was so fricking hot. But we survived.

After the Full Moon-party, Christmas and New Year, I needed some days to detox. I went for Krabi on the 9th of January. Stayed at Ao Nang the first two days, went to Krabi Town after that. Stayed there 2 days then spend 4 days in Railay. After Railay I went to Ko Phi Phi with a French exchange student and two Dutch travelers I met in Ko Phangan. Spend the 16th till the 21st of January in Phi Phi, which was the most beautiful place I’ve been. Found another topic to write about, blog is coming soon.

After Phi Phi we, three Dutch travelers, went to Ao Nang for two nights and went for Bangkok after. We had a reason to go to Bangkok. I was supposed to have my return flight on the 28th of January, I was about to go home soon. But because I have met a lot of people who wanted to go to this country in this period, I chose to cancel my flight back home (sorry mom). I will fly to Sri Lanka on the 26th of January. I am so exited for it but also sad that I will leave Thailand after the six amazing months I had here.
